The Genome of Joy: Reflecting the DNA of God
As the recipients of God's great love in Jesus Christ, and as God's holy people filled with the Holy Spirit, we have every reason to be joyful in all circumstances. Not every experience will be good, but the One who holds on to us is. The Bible tells us Jesus endured the cross for the joy set before him. If Jesus can find joy in that moment, he can help us do the same in every facet of our lives.
July 27 Mistaking Temporal Pleasure for Real Joy Philippians 3:1-11
Instant gratification is too often the mission statement of our lives. We sacrifice our physical health to enjoy foods that bring us immediate pleasure. We spend money, often on credit, to buy things we want now, even at the cost of future financial stability. We even make life choices that bring immediate satisfaction and pleasure, at the expense of our spiritual well-being. Real joy doesn't come from an immediate fix, but from faithfully following Jesus, the Way of life and joy.
